Recruitment
In an ever-tightening labour market, the Queensland Government recognises the need to attract and retain quality people.
It is a 'seller's market', where prospective employees can just about pick and choose the organisation they wish to work for.
Over the next 10 years the public service faces many challenges. Not only are we in a
rapidly tightening labour market, but our workforce is ageing. About 100,000 people will leave the public
service - 40% through retirement.
With this in mind, key areas that the OPSC has been working on include:
- redevelopment of the Queensland Government's jobs board, Smart jobs and careers
- revision of the Recruitment and Selection Directive
- development of a set of recruitment and selection resources
- a whole-of-government graduate program
- School-based apprenticeships and traineeships
and more.
This will ensure that the Queensland Government continues to be the smart choice employer.
