Pre-employment screening
The Public Service Act 1996 was amended in 2004 so that, in certain circumstances, chief executives can conduct criminal history checks on Queensland public service employees and prospective employees.
These amendments:
- ensure safety and security for the Queensland community
- maintain public confidence in the integrity of the Queensland public service, and
- are balanced by the need for fair treatment and rehabilitation of Queensland public service employees and prospective employees who have committed certain offences.
