Employment equity
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) for the Queensland public sector is about making sure the workplace is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment, and that people who are members of an EEO target group are able to compete for employment and promotion as effectively as people who are not. These EEO target groups are:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- people who have migrated to Australia and whose first language is a language other than English, and the children of those people people
- with a disability, and
- women
The Queensland public sector is committed to providing a workplace where there is equal employment opportunity that recognises and values the many benefits of a diverse workforce.
The Office of the Public Service Commissioner is responsible for the administration of the Equal Opportunity in Public Employment Act 1992 and ensuring that public sector agencies meet their EEO obligations.
